General Director Letter

May 4, 2022

Dear supporters of Faith Bible Camp,

We are now approximately two months away from the 2022 Faith Bible Camp season! Much prayer, planning, and preparation have occurred since the fall as we anticipate another fruitful summer of ministry. However, there is still a great deal of work yet to come. Please continue to keep FBC in your prayers as the 2022 season approaches. Here are a few things to keep in mind as we look forward to summer.

Plan to come to camp! Register online at faithbiblecamp.org to confirm a spot. Along with our overnight camp sessions, we will also have a week of Kids Summer Day Camp from July 11-15. This session is an excellent option for kids ages 8-12 who prefer to experience all that FBC offers but sleep at home each day. It is an opportunity to enjoy camp before committing to a whole week away. There are various camps for children and youth of all ages, and you won’t want to miss an opportunity to be in our beautiful camp setting.

Plan to work at camp! Whether for spring pre-season, during summer, or fall post-season, many workers are needed to make a summer of ministry occur. We greatly value and rely on volunteers to make this happen, especially those who fellowship with our member churches. We are hiring a lifeguard for eight weeks of camp sessions in July and August. If you have a passion for caring for children and keeping them safe as they enjoy swimming, this is a great opportunity! Individuals at least 17 years of age in possession of a current lifeguard certificate and First Aid/CPR can apply by contacting our camp office or online on our website. The lifeguard role is a paid position. The other most urgent areas of need include Male Cabin Leaders, Waterfront Directors, Camp Health Officers, and Cook’s Assistants.

From Warren Bartley, Chair of the Executive Committee

At the beginning of April, Angie Bartley offered to take on the Food Services Manager position this summer. This is a significant step in allowing Nancy Guille to transition out of this role after many years of faithful service. The next primary need for this summer will be to secure people to assist with General Manager duties and on-site duties. Please consider if you can help in any part of these duties, even for a portion of the summer. To find out more about what is needed, please contact Ron Guille, Warren Bartley, or Kent Rygiel. Also, there is still a need for an Intern this summer. That person will assist in upkeep, cleaning, etc., on-site this year. It would be well suited to a high school student or someone heading to College or University in the Fall.

Prayer Request

Please continue to pray for Nancy and Ron Guille as Nancy recovers from her recent health concern. Nancy thanks everyone for their prayers during her time in hospital. She is now recovering at home, and we ask that you continue to ask the Lord to provide Nancy with healing, strength, and peace for her, Ron, and their entire family.

Young Adult Weekend

The Executive Committee is considering having a young adult weekend from June 24-26. We are currently working on confirming a director and speaker and want to gauge interest from young adults. The plan is to proceed if a speaker and director are confirmed and we have a minimum of 20 campers committed to attending. If you would be interested in attending this weekend, please contact the office to express your interest.

A reminder of important dates to mark on your calendars:

Certified Food Handling Training Course, Saturday, May 14, from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. at Charleswood Community Church. All head cooks and cook’s assistants are encouraged to attend, and FBC is covering the cost. Please bring a lunch. All participants who pass the test will earn a certificate. Please RSVP by contacting our office.

Work bees. There are two to help to get the campsite ready. We invite you and your family and friends to join us on Saturday, May 28 and Saturday, June 18. Lunch is provided, and this is an excellent opportunity to serve the Lord together. Please RSVP on our website or by contacting the office so we can prepare.

On behalf of the FBC Executive Committee,

Kent Rygiel
